How to Dye a Wool Hood
Dyeing a Wool Hood Sometimes we need a deeper red or, say, a bright yellow in a wool hood. With a little care dyeing an ivory hood yellow, or overdyeing a red to a deeper shade can be easily achieved. Follow these simple guide lines. Find a suacepan with plenty of space to move a wool hood around in. Add hot water and add some All in 1 Dye, making sure it's dissolved fully. Don't add too much dye, you can always add more before you start dyeing. Think of the dye as a finite amount that will be 'attracted' to the wool. Place on a hob and heat it gently - no need to boil Immerse your wool felt in a sink of cold water and leave it to soak. Keep this sink of water. Trim a tiny piece of wool off the edge of the hood and put it it in the dye. Check the colour of the scrap and adjust the amount of dye to achieve the colour that you want. Take another scrap and check again. If your happy with the shade, immerse your hood. Stand over the waterbath and keep the wool hood moving. When you have achieved the desired shade take the wool hood out of the dye bath and immerse in the sink of water and rinse. That's it! Block it straight away.
